Tissue Specific Wound Debridement™
The Misonix SonicOne™ is an advanced ultrasonic device for
effective wound debridement and cleansing while sparing viable tissue structures.
Contact.
The
ultrasonic probe of the SonicOne™ oscillates at a frequency of 22.5 kHz and is in direct contact to the wound. It allows
for deep tissue penetration and causes cell destruction within the woundbed through combined vibrational and cavitational
effects. Continuous irrigation provides a medium for cavitation and flushes the wound of fibrin deposits and bacterial growth
while preserving the granulation tissue. This method of contact debridement and cleansing is particularly useful in deep and
tunneling wounds.
Comfort.
Healthy and viable tissue structures have a higher elasticity and flexibility
than necrotic cells and are more resistant to destruction from ultrasound effects. Additionally, the debridement is started
proximally to the woundbed surface and advanced distally, which separates infected from viable layers for a more defined treatment
and reduced pain sensation.
Control.
The SonicOne™ offers continuous and pulse modes and
a wide range of dedicated ultrasonic tips giving the practitioner a variety of options to adjust the efficacy of the treatment.
In pulse mode, for example, the ultrasonic power is delivered intermittently between set intervals to accommodate hypersensitive
patients and to extend tolerable treatment sessions.
